I was quoted £800 by merc to replace the tape player and CD changer!

Your best bet is to buy one 2nd hand if you want the same again.

I did it for £50, just make sure the seller has the radio code!

£800 :censor: -that figure is SO unbelievable that I hope I don't insult a friend by asking her is she sure!?

Does the Grundig CD player from the roadie also fit a 42?

Also, I believe the ISO connecters for CD changers are the same size and have the same pin-out.

Put simply, that means you should be able to mix and match different brands of CD changers with different head units.....

Unless Smart were stupid enough to order a custom Head unit AND CD changer???

Yup! I'll try and find the exact price somewhere. I remember the guy saying to me "you really don't want to ask that question!"

Although they did tell me it was fooked FOC!

typically the manufacturer will try and charge you £200-£300 for a replacement head unit.
Typically they are worth less than £100 for resale in tip top condition.
