  • 2 amp's - how to?

got an amp/sub behind the passenger seat in the roady... now buying another one to fit behind the driver seat...

The first one works off the pre-out (or the usb out) on my DVD player...

Do I just splice the cables and use the same power/earth/audio leads for the new amp or need to do something more radical (and expensive??)

you should be fine splitting the low level (with a Y adaptor cable) to feed both.
you should run separate power runs to it (fused of course) or you may overcome the fusing for the amp you have currently as you'd be running two amps (pardon the pun) off the same fuse.

What speakers are you going to be running from this new amp?

I wouldn't splice the cables unless you're sure the cable to the battery is capable of supplying the current needed to run two amps. I'd run another separate power cable to the battery with a fuse as close the battery as you can get, and a separate earth too. The audio cable you should be able to get a splitter.

fantastic, thanks guys... off to pick the sub up then...

the only bad thing is ... this will require me to pull the carpet up and do the wiring bit again... (currently the first amp is being fed from the battery) - will need to find a place to earth as well !!!

I would have said seperate power supply to each Amp, split your RCA with a y connector. The only problem will be you fade and balance. It will have to be one or the other.

Can we have some pics please.

You might want to check if your head unit has 2 pre-outs, if it has use the spare pair instead of a splitter for better sound.

if it had two preouts, they would only be internally connected together , so it's pointless

                          2 amp's
I'd probably choose a bigger fuse than that tbh

I'm intending on fitting a centre speaker in a fibre enclosure to my Roadie in July between the botton of the 2 DIN headunit and the gear stick.

......along with 2 10inch Subs, 2 amps and 4 new front and rear speakers.

Nothing quite like STAR WARS Tie Fighter action in a small space
