  • Wanting to gift an ICE system...help please! (girlfriends Roadster)

Hello all, new to the forum though been looking around it a bit this morning....

Girlfriend has the non Brabus Roadster without the "audio upgrade" ...06 model.

Currently has the standard (appalling) Grundig stereo and whatever off-brand speakers I guess are shoved in the doors. I dont suppose there are tweeters in the dash.

A few things...she needs iPod playback, so I was either gonna go for This Alpine dedicated iPod HU
or This Pioneer front-USB iPod system

I've done some research on speakers and no matter what I say she doesnt want me cutting out any of the back panelling for a sub, and she wants nothing visible (so I cant tack a sub onto the back or anything), so I'm a bit stuck in this respect!
Even though it doesn't seem to come with them as standard, can I buy components and stick them into the dash? Or am I going to have to go with 2 ways?
Speaker suggestions at all? Preferably on the more "budget" end and bear in mind they're going to have to have some half decent bass response as she doesn't want a sub !

Thank you very kindly in advance

Infinity K57i's or any similar sized speaker with a depth of less than 53mm IIRC (someone will confirm, I'm sure) and an Alpine SWD1600 behind the drivers' seat.

    Looks standard, sounds good

thanks for your advice but my total budget is £150-£200 so currently a sub is out of the question...I may later when I got some more cash get her an amp/compact sub combo but for the moment I just need some 13cm bassy speakers.

notice you ride bikes by the way, nice one ! I got a SV650S (both my bike and her car are bright yellow, haha)

Good Luck! 13cm != Bass. Usually they drop out at 70Hz or so. Best idea is to get some quality 13cm speakers like Infinity's or Rainbow, sod the bass and then add a sub at a later date.

Any ideas on these? They look like they offer great value for money

Will the tweeters fit in the dash?

http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/audi...p5-p-5279.html Whatabout these? 75watt RMS, never heard of the brand though, are they any good? I checked her dash and no tweeters installed as of yet, how hard will it be to wire tweeters in there? Is it worth it over just getting some co-ax?

Fli is a good make, made by vibe who is one of the best in the buisness...all of my subs are fli and I did have what could have been a fli show car prior to this smart and it was amasing quality and volume wise

I'd recommend them, but everybody has there own preference. :goodlk:
