  • Too Noisy!!

A question for those of you that know more than I do...

My FF stereo has the option of turning the base down to -7 and the treble up to +7 which is where I leave it but there's still too much base coming through.

My hearing is shocking and on some of the music I listen to, I can barely hear the treble over the base.

I don't want to change the stereo to an aftermarket one (it just looks cr@p imo) but is there any way to adjust the sound any more???

Is there a Loudness setting as well? (There is on the Roadster stereo). If there is, you probably want to turn that off too.

            Loudness is most definately off!

What i'm asking, is there any way you can do something that's not got a button, maybe fiddle with the wires, change the speaker??

Upgrading the speakers will improve overall sound quality if they are the original smart speakers.

Yeah fiddle with the wires, that'll do it

You must have the bass bins?, remove them and fit the non-upgrade speakers without the bins.

That'll demolish any bass you have

try changing it so the woofers are getting feed from the tweeter chanel too...check evils website for a wiring diagram on how to do this/which wires to change

                    Re: Too Noisy!!

I believe your car has got the plastic bass bins as standard fitted below the speakers which were changed to be part of the sound upgrade on later models.

You could remove them and sell them but this is avoiding the problem really.

Have you got the tweeters on your dashboard underneath the windscreen edge? If not then it might be that you have the sound upgrade chip installed which is trying to send the high notes to the tweeters but the tweeters aren't there so you cutting out the top range completely.

If that is the case then you've got two options - Fit tweeters or remove the sound upgrade chip.

To find out if that's the case, take the stereo out and there is a small black plastic cover on the top middle, remove this and look to see if there is a chip in there.

It's been about 7 years since I last did that though so it's a bit hazy now.
