  • Roadster - New stereo

    Hi!

I have ordered a new soundsystem for my roadster.

    - Pioneer DEH-6100BT
    - Focal 130KR
    - Focal SOLID 2 black 2x80W

Any tips for installing this? The speakers should be easy enough (but I do need some ideas where to place the crossovers).

Do I need some new wiring when I swap the player with the old one?

I was hoping to place the amplifier under one of the seats, but I am not sure it will fit... Does anyone know where the wiring to the battery should go?

the amp won't fit under the seat, but there is a recess behind the seats where people usually put the subs/cd changers etc, this is probably best.

you'll obviously need all the cabling for the amp, and you'll need to run your own pre-outs from the back of the headunit under the carpet.

the stereo will be a straight swap, you'll need to swap over the yellow and red wires (permanent and switchable live). since it's a pioneer, these will be on bullet connectors.

I'd put the crossovers behind the dash.

Have you checked the top-mount depth for the speakers you've chosen?, they're lovely speakers, but they look pretty beefy and there is bugger all depth available in the roadie door! you need to seriously careful that you don't smash/chip/damage your window when lowering it down once the speakers are installed.

In retrospect, I suppose "supercalafragalisticexpialadocious" wasn't a great "safe word..."

          Re: Roadster - New stereo

I heard the maximum depth is 64mm or so. The Focal-set is 61mm, so I hope it will work

yes they do sit a bit proud of where they should but the grill will pop back into place over them.. you will have to cut one of the plastic lugs off the back of the cage though to get them to fit into the recess in the door....
trust me its worth the hassle im totally blown away by the quality of the sound and the depth of field these speakers produce..

The speakers fitted perfect in the doors, no problem with the windows. Well, offcourse, I did have to cut a bit on the speakers...

No I am facing a problem. Where do I put the wiring between the battery in the front, and into the car?

hi, youll need to cut one of the mounting holes off the speakers to get them to fit, dont worry the come off easily with side cutters, youll not be dissapointed by the way i had focal's in my roadie and they were amazing... i would also order up two new speaker grills as i managed to break a couple of tabbs taking them off... again dont worry too much there fairly cheep and available from smart / merc
