451 SMD colour

Been toying with the idea of change the SMD LED's in my car. I've read evilution's brilliant guide so got the know how (hopes I got the do how )

Only thing I'm wondering about is colour. My choices are blue (the common colour to change too), yellow (my car colour) or white. I've done some mock ups, white only, apologies for really bad quality as done without my usual software

Opinions? Or any specific reason to not use white as that's the colour I'm leaning towards?

IIRC the LEDs on the 451 are the twist type ( so technically it's not a Surface Mount Device).

At least they have the advantage they don't require soldering....

Blue replacement LEDs might have the problem I came across, the packaging is a slightly extended length and couldn't fit into the safety island without catching on the PCB.

Whites will look cleaner and should be a little brighter, as blue Leds need a slightly higher voltage to be applied to them.

I'm guessing the supply power is 5v? I can't seem to find domed PLCC-4, for the button bank, would normal PLCC-4's do?

The line is about 3.5volts. Forget domed, they use domed to decreased the FOV on the led meaning it can seem brighter but use less power. The replacements have enough lumen output to not need to be focused, in fact, forget PLCC-4, just not necessary.

Although the standard leds are PLCC-4 and are soldered onto 4 solder tabs, when you desolder the leds you will notice that 1 solder pad on either side doesn't actually go anywhere.
All you have to do is put a PLCC-2 in its place with the registration mark in the same direction and solder the single connector on each sideof the led to the 2 pads below them.
