  • Speaker changing help

    I have a 650 LHD Fortwo which I think has some kind of sound pack as it has tweeters on pods and appears to have bins under the dash too. Despite that, since upgrading the head unit, the sound is truly awful, it really shows up the limitations of the speakers.

    Two questions;

    1) Is there any kind of upgrade solution possible without removing the dash

    2) If no, is there any experienced audio fitter in the London area who has done a speaker upgrade on a Smart and can do the job quickly and for reasonable cost?

    Thanks

    Forgot to mention I am totally non technical and terrible when it comes to things like removing a dash. I can fit a head unit but after that I'm lost!

    It's not that tough a job tbh to remove the dash.

    I've seen smarts with part of the door drawer being replaced with a panel and speakers mounted on top of that, can look quite good.

        I've looked about for you, but I just can't find a pic right now

        Somebody might have a pic of some they'll post up .......

        One last thing..... are you using the original headunit with the smart upgrade speaker system right now? (and if so is it the cd headunit or cassette)

          Thanks, I would appreciate it. No I put in a new Sony HU. I'm not sure if it is the Smart upgrade speakers but the tweeters lead me to think it is.

            Check under the dash to see if you have the bass bins, they seem to make a huge amount of difference.

            Edit - I see you say it deos have the speakers... thats good then!

            I'm sure I can fit the speakers for you if you want to go that route.
            the door pocket speakers I think are at smartsrus.

            In retrospect, I suppose "supercalafragalisticexpialadocious" wasn't a great "safe word..."
