OK, lets turn off the radio once and for all!

It's driven me to the edge. I want to s0dding radio to STAY OFF.

Yes, I can switch it to AUX, but it still comes one and the display glows, which bugs me. I only want it to glow when I'm listening to something.

So, as I understand it (from other posts on the forum) I have to move the 12v permanent wire to 12v switched. And I have to do this at the fuse box end of the electrical chain.

Could Evilution or other very clever person, provide a little guidance on this please? I don't want to blow fuses or short out anything important, so any help would be useful.

In return, if I succeed in achieving my goal, I'll provide pictures for others who might be interested.

Leave your car wiring alone!!!!

Swap it on the radio side of the ISO block unless you are 100% confident (you wouldn't be posting if you were). That way, if you **** it up you only break the radio.

The original unit will go back in when you sell if you do it this way too...

Try disconnecting the switched live from the ISO block. A precision screwdriver or paperclip can pop the terminals out. Test it does what you want and then insulate the removed terminal so it doesn't short circuit on anything behind the dash.

Well, I managed to remove the radio without any problems thanks to Evilution's excellent how-to video.

Removing the block connectors was no problem, and sure enough, there on pin A4 was a wire. Actually TWO wires, both coloured Red+Blue. Try as I might, I couldn't remove the wires from the block to test the effect on the radio, so instead I covered the pin on the back of the radio with insulating tape. Connected the radio back up, and it didn't turn on when I turned on the engine. In fact, it didn't turn on when I pressed the power button.

Not quite sure what's going on. Probably a case of "user error". I'll try again in daylight tomorrow instead of in the garage.
