  • Aftermarket headunit on roadster

The Standard CD player on my girlfriends has finally packed up so i'm thinking of buying her a new headunit that will play mp3's / usb socket etc...

What do I need to fit an after market headunit ?

I have the new headunit coming to me , I have also ordered the fascia surround but do I need any kind of extra wires etc.... to get it to work or will it just connect straight up with the standard leads in car ?

    Cheers

    Phil

    standard ISO connection.
you might need to swap the red and yellow wires on the back if you start losing the radio station memory, but that depends on the make of your headunit.

In retrospect, I suppose "supercalafragalisticexpialadocious" wasn't a great "safe word..."

No , not really, some people manage to jam the locking catches on the original headunit before they've even got it out of the slot.

So be careful and don't force anything. done right , it will come out very easily.
use the proper removal 'tools' if at all possible, you should have got some with the car

Done wrong and using hammers, screwdrivers, brute force usually ends in tears

I'm hoping she's already got the removal tools , if not I assume you can generally pick them up from halfords.

What shape removal tools are they? , are they flat spade types or are they the U shaped ones.
