I want to replace mu present aftermarket HU with a motorised unit to incoporate satnav, handsfree, mp3 and basically as much as I can. I have no idea what is good and good value. Had a look on ebay and found a masive range of stuff and prices so that did not help much so last resort was to risk posting on here and ask what you guys and gals think.

Re: Motorised cd satnav etc etc HU ideas
the touch screen head unit i bought could of come with sat nav as well but was only for sale in the usa with usa maps so i decided not go for that option lol. becarefull with ebay though as you need to find a unit that someone has used before and can get on with it , technology is great if you know how to work it and a nightmare if you cant!

THe double din bit relies on you removing the drawer underneath the OEM radio.
You could always have a look at this site, sometimes has good deals
If you don't want to deal with any "issues" always go with a well know brand name unless you are willing to do leg work on lesser known makes like, check out things llike their website for upgrades / patches / support.
The other problem with these motorised filp up screen systems, is some of them do not clear the stering wheel in a smart. Or if they do, it is by mm's abd then only if the unit is fully pushed in the housing. If it moves during driving and you try it, it can damage the systemwhn it gets stopped mid way!

John

No - no room for a double DIN with the trip computer.:frown:
Which is a pity because the cheap and cheerful double DIN units seem ok as far as reliability is concerned.
Unfortunately it is a bit more hit and miss with the cheaper motorized tilt screen single DIN units - there can be issues with the touch screen and/or motors failing
probably better to stick to a known brand - pioneer, Alpine, Kenwood ,Panasonic etc
The RRP for these units is typically £700!:dollarey:
However there is another possibility.......... we'll chat this evening

I have been looking into this my self and have decided to use separate components.
Stock cd player
Ego look Bluetooth (same unit that can be ordered with 2010 smarts) http://www.egohandsfree.com/index.ph...-ego-look.html
And garmin gps mounted with this. http://www.smartsrus.com/acatalog/in...unt%5f1%2ehtml
All in all it will cost about the same as a single integrated unit without the drama of a motorized unit, or trying to find something that can do everything well.
My $.02

Pixmania have the Pioneer AVH-5200BT for £540, but I have seen it cheaper elsewhere. You can get the Sat-nav add in for £320 ish elsewhere. I'm going to get that for mine, but do it in stages as can't really afford both at the same time.
Pioneer had this unit on their stand on Saturday.
Plus at pixmania I get 270 airmiles:p for the head unit.

That "ego look" unit might be the one for me... I don't need all the music stuff at all, but so few bluetooth kits seem to do anything useful with incoming texts, and most of my incoming is texts.
