  • Installed Sound Chip - radio not working now!

Any advice guys? I installed the sound-chip on my Grundig casette radio yesterday - now the radio won't power up - nothing on the display at all.

I tried removing the sound chip, but still will not power up.

    What have I done???

    Checked the Fuse?

Did you totally disconnect the power when fitting it?

Mmmm stupidly (I really should know better) I did not actually disconnect the power - I thought as it's a simple "plug-in" job, it wouldn't require disconnection. Looks like I'm going to have to check the fuse then...

Checked both fuses (14 on the fusebox & the one at the back of the radio) and they're both fine.
        Have I broken the radio?

I should imagine so, if you open up the radio you maybe lucky there maybe a surface mount fuse on the pcb, if not looks like a visit to fleabay...........

Well I bought a replacement off of fleabay for £35. The reviews all say that the original Grundig radio cassette is an excellent unit when fitted with the sound chip & decent speakers. The new unit is in & working now, with the sound chip installed - just need to get some decent speakers now!
