Admitidly I don't have OEM tweeters at they are just to expensive. I got a £2 or £3 pair from fleabay and they work a treat. I wouldn't go for the official bass bin as it's very underpowered from what I've been told. Your best bet is to get a low profile sub and mount it behind the seat.

          Hi,
I am thinking of upgrading the tweeters with non oem ones (for price reasons).
Since you have done this I have some questions...
          1. Do the ones you bought have frequency filters built into them?
          2. Did you have a job fitting them?
          3. How did you fix them, under the factory grills or above the dash?
          4. Did you install them without removing the dashboard?

          Thanks for any help

          Paul

            Hi,
            1. Wouldn't have a clue :-\ sorry
            2. The drivers side is easy as there's nothing in the way, the other side though you ideally need to lower the SAM unit to access the plug.
            3. I chased the cables up to the top od the dash so they sit at the start of the bomerang bits on the trim of the dash.
            4. You can fit both OEM and aftermarket ones without removing the dash thankfully. The drivers side cable is almost in plain view from underneath but the other side on both the Smarts I've had has been buried in the main wiring loom so you'll need to drop the SAM and look for a small grey or brown plug, untape it then tap into the wire and you're pretty much done.

What about going for a set of aftermarket tweeters (they will definitely sound far better than the stock tweeters)

              something like these maybe?

they would have the crossover supplied and just need to be tapped of a source.

as above...don't bother with the factory subwoofer, it's a tiny driver and it's quite frankly an insult to charge money for it!

an aftermarket solution will see you get more for you money and i'd highly recommend the offerings from pioneer.

              TS-WX110A, TS-WX210A or TS-WX110A

as far as installation is concerned, you might be better off placing them ON the dash both angled to the centre. This will give you more of a spacial feel rather than relying on the tweeters loading of the front windscreen as the factory system does.

Definitely worth it, I have the touchscreen highline stereo and just door speakers, with these tweeters in I can hear sounds that I never knew existed!
                  Love them

Well yes aventually, the next step is to get some 4 way door speakers fitted, then I might put some more tweeters in the back and then I want a double 12 sub (quick removable so I can still go shopping ha)

Did you install doors speakers by removing skins? What speakers have you used and is there enough clearance for windows?

Yes I removed the door skins, its a 451, I used evolutions website guide and wasn't too hard at all.
Those are edge ed 206's they are 5.7in deep and fit fine, window clearance is fine too.
