  • Smart head unit won't work with 16gb flash drive.

    Hi.
I've got a new Pulse Diesel with the standard head unit (the smaller "smart" branded one, rather than the big pioneer).

I've just plugged a 16gb flash drive in to the USB socket in the glove box, but the head unit doesn't seem to able to see it. It says it's updating (or something similar? ....I'm back in the house now), but this never completes.

Is there an upper limit to the size of drive this head unit will recognise? ....& yes I have got it formatted as Fat32.

FYI the new sat nav unit is Bosch, no pie on ear.

I'll say it's BOSH, what a complete pile of toast. Roads are wrong, it doesn't move with the car, you can't put in more than 4 digits of a postcode - what country was it made for? It is a just SO rubbish. I doubt it's just me..

it has the potential to be a very good unit...but that's where it ends.

:censor: my iPhone doesn't even work with it and if I use the Auxiliary in, the quality isn't up to scratch.

Having potential is one thing - actually being good is another. Why does it not do what its supposed to do?
I'll sit in the car with the manual tomorrow and see if there's something obvious I've missed...

The Saab unit (ran off a DVD) I had was near perfect (it didn't take postcodes but that wasn't a problem) - even the basic Toyota b/w unit was better and that must be about 12 years old by now. This one isn't DVD based - just software I guess.

I don't have complaints about it to be honest. It plays CD, music from my iPod and iPad, plays DVD, a working radio and sounds good. Even the bluetooth phone thing works.
There is an update for a few issues but most of the faults are to do with the sat nav. When you think of a good sat nav, no one thinks Bosch.
Surely everyone has a Tomtom these days anyway. Especially considering how cheap they are.

£500 might sound a lot but you try and find a similar head unit for that price.
