  • subs in a roadie

Hi all. Looking to upgrade the ice in my roadie. It apparently has the upgraded sound package (don't know what this entails) but I'm still looking at upgrading the lot. Has anyone fitted bigger speakers in the doors and where can i fit a sub and amp?? Thinking of fitting the amp behind the drivers seat and fitting a sub into the passenger foot well (making a molded fiberglass enclosure) How does this sound?? Any ideas and info much appreciated.
    Thanx all.

the sound package is better quality cardboard speakers (still ****), and some tweeters in the windscreen vents. oh and an amplifier chip.
Change those door speakers, and change out the head unit and it will sound infinately better!!

in terms of subs, usually a flat sub (commonly the Alpine SWD1600) behind the passenger seat works a treat. - I loved the setup in my roadie with this sub.
I'm not sure I would compromise the passenger footwell for a sub (but has been done).

Word of warning though... make sure your car is dry before fitting the stereo - and I mean under the carpets too, as any new wires will corrode very quickly if sitting in water

In retrospect, I suppose "supercalafragalisticexpialadocious" wasn't a great "safe word..."

i have one of these bad boys in the back, i must admit i dont normally splash that amount but since you can stand on it i can put things on the top and move it between cars -- http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/pro...s_id/8464.html

The Alpine sw1600 is unfortunately discontinued and the 2nd hand value is high - not
suprising it was/is the sub of choice of lots of people

I have the equivalent pioneer active sub tx ws11a which is possibly slightly better than
the alpine..it fits neatly into that recess on the rear bulkhead behind the seats.

I seem to recall it had ever so slightly better specs (though you wouldn't notice) and its
big point is it comes with a very neat remote control unit which fits into the cubby hole
          beneath the handbrake.

I have problems with photobucket but can email pics if required

i had the alpine sub behind the seat in my fortwo - just didn't give me what i needed (some nice bass). it certainly upped the sound range but it was far from what i wanted!

i eventually went for a fli trap active sub that i picked up for £30 and it was awesome (but you won't have that sort of space available)

you really need a tube of some kind. the one that Sam has listed is a good choice but it can also be branded as Carrozzeria??? (if thats how its spelt) and also available TS-WX99A TS-WX66A

Also similar is the Alpine SWE-2200.

i nearly bought one of these as these get good reviews...
