  • got it all, now to fit it...

Got all my new speakers, head unit, amp & subs etc, now looking to fit it all. Fitting uprated speaker cable. How easy / hard is it to route the cable into the doors and under the dash for the tweeters??? Also where's best to route amp power cable from battery to cabin?? Anyone already done this coz any advice would be much appreciated.

        Sorry Miami,

I had to work late last night, I was intending to come along and say hello, when is the next gathering? Did you have any joy with your sub cable?

Re: got it all, now to fit it...

Finally got to start my install today. Stripped out all the interior, sealed all the front to stop any leaks (hopefully). Routed speaker cable, pre out cables and power cable to where the amp will be fitted, but still struggling to find a suitable place to route the power cable from the cabin to the front bay??? Any body help???

Just keep it well away from any audio signal cables, RCA or speaker level. Where do you mean , front bay? Did you get the pics of my install I sent to you?

I've got them somewhere but filed them somewhere safe??? Can you re-send the pictures and info relating to how to get the power cable for the amp through the bulkhead and into the bonnet compartment please.. I'm using 4AWG cable so it's quite thick.
Your help will be much appreciated.
                    Thanx..

Re: got it all, now to fit it...

Who said removing the door skins was easy??? It's taken me the best part of a day to get the new speaker cables into the doors. Don't want to be doing that too often. Any how I've got most of the cable in situ now. I'm going to cut a new hole in the bulk head for the amp power cable, but don't know where to get a new grommet for the hole I'm going to cut? See if I can find one at work (benefits of working at Landrover). Hopefully only another days work and I'll have it all back in and working. Watch this space.

Halfords, wicks, b&q. just get a big drill and make a hole! (the bit i like best on customers cars)

OK. I'm almost there. Routed the amp power cable (without drilling a new hole). Wired the amp up, wired up the x overs and the mids in the door. Just in the process of wiring up the tweeters which I've mounted in the a posts. Really pleased with how it all looks. Just deciding weather to put 2 x 8" subs in an enclosure in the boot or just make a parcel shelf and mount some 6"x9"s in it and save for a compact sub for behind the seat? Suggestions welcome. Will post some photos when it's all done.
