  • Tweeters! Saved me a lot of money

After going to numerous places asking about custom installs after fitting my new jvc double din head unit a few weeks back, I have just installed a pair of boss tw12 tweeters like smann style on evilution, and I have to say with the factory door speakers and factory sub..... Massive Improvement!!

I cannot believe how tiny the crappy smart tweeters are no wonder the sound that came out of them was like some idiot on the bus with his headphones on so loud you can hear them.

And I must say the tweeter cabling on the pass side is way trickier than the drivers side so after doing pass side first I had a huge wait lifted off my shoulders when I realised there was much more slack on the drivers side.

Now change the door speakers, you'll be twice as amazed as you are now.

Have now fitted two 10cm speakers under seats belt reels as they have on the surround sound upgrade and has made it even clearer now just to do the dreaded door speakers!

if you have an iphone or android phone just use the photobucket app.

take a pic on your phone then upload straight to photobucket.

                        Hi adamsmart,
The reason im bringing this thread back is because I'm planning on adding rear speakers and I see in your first image you have some in the place I want to put mine.
Do you have a guide or any further info on getting them into that location, did you use a riser to mount them out a bit? What's the mounting depth of those speakers? Also how did you cut the speaker hole out? Any info is welcome

                        Thanks in advance

                        Paul

Re: Tweeters! Saved me a lot of money

I removed rear interior panels marked a stencil for the cut with the speaker mount and then measured the depth speaker and depth of the plastic but making sure it was low enough to miss the seatbelt reel, the plastic I cut totally the wrong way by most people terms but I didn't have many options other than drilling numerous holes with a small drill bit then cutting the joins between drilled holes with a sharp Stanley. Then buffed it all with a file to smooth it, hooked up speaker wires and then put panel back, they were rubbish boss audios SE422 10cm speakers which I have removed and now replaced with some higher wattage vibe speakers but I'm gonna rip it all back out again soon to have those and the doors and the tweeters refitted with a better brand, doesn't add much sound but does balance the rear and front sound a bit more.

The boss speakers originally are a mounting depth of 1.68 inches

Thanks for the fast response I think I'm going to do that, I've seen some cheap edge 10cm speakers that in going to pair with some tweeters for the rear channel too.
After that I just need to get the subwoofer in.
Thanks for the info any pictures of your new speaker installs would be great if you get chance whilst doing them, I'll try photo mine when I do it all.
                            Cheers
