  • AVIC F910BT install

    Hi All,
I've decided to take the plunge and replace my Radio 9 (on my 2008 Brabus Fortwo) with a Pioneer AVIC F910BT.
Thought I'd ask for advice from here as it's my face Smart forum :-D
Anyways I have the sound package (Tweeters and Bass unit under seat) and wondered if theres any thing I need in order to make it work fully.
I'm aware I'll have to move a PIN in the connector or something, the power pin?
Also Is it easy to install the speed signal wire and also the reverse and handbrake signal wires?
    Any help would be great!

just to let you know, the Pioneer AVIC F910BT is ****, it freezes, wont allow the phone to connect, shades out certain buttons so you cant choose that option, asks for password when it feels like it, wanna spare one before i put a hammer through mine

      Re: AVIC F910BT install

I have to say mine is the exact opposite, the only time I can get it to crash is when I try to play a video off te phone through the lead, saying that it goes directly back to the startup screen and then whatever it was doing before I pressed the video button......so I don't press it! Apart from that it's a very useful bit of kit....

I've come across first problem, how do you get the pins out of the Mercedes/Smart connector, I need to swap some of the terminals so they work, I think it's 1 and 3 or something but they wont come out of the connector, even when I've removed the grey plastic tab that holds them in as per photo below, Can someone please help :-D

Also Evilution, here is a pic of the speed signal cable that came, came in 2, think it's been cut and god knows where it goes, any ideas?

              Re: AVIC F910BT install

Right then, your all gonna laugh at me but I've solved the problem... I didn't have to adjust the pin layout as I've got a Pioneer/Smart wiring loom (part number CD-MB-SMA.002 if anyones interested)
I assumed the unit would come on without the ignition key turned... turned the key and BAM, unit worked.
Only need to know where to put the green & white cable here and hey presto, the garage I bought the unit from said it was pulled from a Smart 451 and said the green & white cable was the speed sensor cable... Anyone know where this goes?

451 don't have speed pulse pinout on speedo iirc (unlike 450 and Roady) I think it can be pulled from the CAN bus you can buy interfaces at the likes of Halfords etc

ditch the speed pulse. the navi will figure it out when you get out on the other side of a tunnel.

as for the handbrake wire, just ground it at the loom and just be responsible and don't watch films while driving.

I think that's what the box in the picture does.

It's the weekend so I thought I'd have a go at finalising this, only the CAB BUS connector to put in, anyone know where this goes, there's two identical connected to themselves...
The green wire says CAN LOW and the green/white says CAN HIGH

A lot of French pioneer website links xref that number as a steering wheel control module, maybe a place to look to see if those connectors act as a pass through? but they both have male pins so probably not?

Have you bothered contacting Pioneer? surely they'd be the best people for the info, they don't list adaptor for the F910BT under smart on their site though just for the F40BT and F940BT
