  • 451 Radio Frame

    The question is...

Why can't I get a 1DIN radio frame that allows me to retain the little drawer that sits under the radio? There's seems to be enough space for it...

    The radio I have:

    The frames I find

Doesn't seem to hard to do...
Just wanted to maintain as much of the original look as possible.

but the space the single unit takes up in that frame is actually smaller than what a single din would take up.

do away with both and get a £250 double din unit (standard looking ish) and a smartmods surround http://www.smartmods.co.uk/index.php?page=details&id=5

    job done

I'm pretty sure that the one on smartmods is for the pre-facelift 451.

For the face lift model you want this:

      Celsus part number: AFK4089

the guys at www.soundevo.co.uk should be able to help you out with celsus bits!

As for trying to retain the oem cubby well, most likely its down to the lines that make it not worth while for most aftermarket companies to bother reusing the drawer.

As for a why, well I've no idea there!

        Thanks for the replies.
If I can't find a Single din surround for a Single din Radio I think I'll have to go with the 2DIN radio Option.
Too bad I have a good becker radio collecting dust in the garage.

We can and will be getting the lowline surrounds but they sure as hell won't be that expensive!
I already have 1 here to test and it's very nicely made.
You just have to get a 1 DIN blanking plate to make it a single DIN stereo surround or get a 1 DIN cubby hole for a bit of extra storage.

Thanks Kane. But no plans to use the existing drawer, right?

It's a worthless drawer anyway. An average colon has more storage room.
