  • Tweeter and sub fit in a 451??

    Hi All,

I've bought a 2012 passion 84 which i'm currently using as my daily for driving to work and back. I have the smart navigation headunit fitted and was wondering if you can add extra speakers, i.e: a pair of tweeters and a small sub. My smart has electric mirrors so i will mount the tweeters in the mirror panels. As for the sub (and amp), I'm not too sure where to put these?? I don't even know if the headunit will take a sub/amp? I'd like to leave the inside as standard as possible so i would like to keep the original headunit if possible?

    Any help would be great

First I would suggest you do a search on google on your h/u, I don't have 451 so no idea on spec for it, it should have a model number which will give you an idea.

On experience oem h/u tend not to have RCA outputs, you will then need to buy a speaker to RCA converter or buy an amp that takes high level (speaker wire) inputs from the h/u.

You can then put the amp under the seat, behind the seats or in the boot, my advice is behind the seat.

Now for the amp, this can be mounted anywhere depending on how much work you want to do and the size etc

Have a look at jl stealth box which goes under dash, underseat subs which are small and compact can go underseat space permitting or behind seat. Or you could use part or all of your boot space.

Personally I would replace the front door speakers as well with a set of components.

    Hth

Cool, thanks for that. I'll look into the head unit.

If you don't store anything in the boot flap storage area then you can put speakers into it, I have.
I can also make you a plug in connector that gives you 4 preamplified RCA connections and a REM line for switching the amp.
