Location of Microphone on a 451 for new member!!

Hi Guys.

I am new to the Forum & Smart Cars so please bear with me.

Could anyone advise where the microphone for the hands free kit is on a 2010 451 cabrio, with a Pioneer F301BT, which I assume was the original model.

It's in the rh side grille down by the side of the actual radio, where it hardly picks up any speech at all. You can relocate it, there's lots of wire on the microphone.

Thanks for your prompt reply, I saw the previous threads but was not sure where the mike was, having removed the panel holding the sun visors.

The only trouble is you'll be without the proper clip thing to install it somewhere more useful. I have mine sat on a double sided pad on top of the steering column housing. If you go for that position you'll have to be careful moving the speedo cluster as the nav unit takes a speed pulse from one of the wires, and on mine it was rather taut.

Thanks to all the forum members I located the microphone and managed to remove the sat-nav unit successfully. Unfortunatly the microphone did not seem to work, so I ordered and new generic microphone, however the plug was the wrong size, but with a bit of soldering and insulating tape, all is working now. I also found the Sat nave aerial under the plastic trim covering the sat nav and air con controls so I will move that to a better location.
