451 bluetooth dash pod not 100%

ages ago I fitted the factory Bluetooth hands free kit which has worked well for a couple of years. Recently the radio controller stopped working. IN view of the age I though new battery,so new battery fitted but still no joy. I have looked in the instruction manual to see if it needs to be re-linked to the hands free but nothing. Any one else had this problem?

Clean the contacts up that touch the battery and the connections from the top to the bottom of the rotary controller.
