Smart Fortwo - knocking on the steering rack

I recently started feeling the occasional knocking on the steering wheel/rack. I have recently replaced the wishbone and stabilising bar a few months ago.

Can the ball joints cause this problem?

The car is a 2003 450 Coupe

Yep, or wishbone bushes, or shock absorber bushes.

In retrospect, I suppose "supercalafragalisticexpialadocious" wasn't a great "safe word..."
