Hello all

Posting in plenty of time this month!

Next Shepperton meet is SUNDAY 5th February at the Thames Court from 12.30pm. More information on the Thames Court can be found here; also for convenience, a map is here.

Newbies as well as old timers are of course more than to come along.

I've not booked a table yet - just want to get a handle on numbers first, especially if it's anything like it was last time! Again, this is a first come first served etc meet, and I'm afraid I'll have to put a cut-off time of Thursday 2nd February at 7pm for peeps to register their interest. Anything after that, you're still welcome to come along but we won't be able to guarantee a seat if you've not put your name down before the cut off.

Just to be 100% clear (and sorry for being the nasty bad guy!) if you haven't registered your interest in coming along to this meet, you cannot expect to have a space reserved for you. There may be capacity within the pub to fit you in but this is not guaranteed.

This is why it is so important that Helen is notified of who is coming along. Helen does a sterling job of keeping and eye on all the forums, facebook and all the other forms of social media to try and include everybody. Therefore, by turning up unannounced, you are being unfair as you compromise spaces that other people have rightfully reserved.

I just want everyone to be clear that organising meets where there is a restriction on numbers (where there is a lot of demand!) is not easy and often goes unappreciated.

You are right to flag this up James.

There has been many a meet that I have organised (all be it a long time ago I have to confess) when folks have just "turned up" and it is unfair to those who expect to have a seat and not be cramped. Never mind the agonising that takes place for the organiser

I would suggest that, if you decide to just "turn up" you wait for everyone else to be seated then ask for an invitation to join in - not to just assume there will be enough seating and plonk yourself ahead of others

We all want everyone to attend but not at the discomfort of others. I am sure it is better to confirm attendance and not attend than vicky versa
