Chester to Conwy

Hey Everyone!

This drive I am putting together is going from the Chester Services, through Chester City Centre into North Wales, namely Conwy (of course, not via the A55 all the way, That would be cheating ). We will probably be going the long way to Ruthin and then straight up into St. Asaph via Denbigh. Once in St. Asaph, we will probably stop for a pub lunch on or near the Roe and then charge onwards to Conwy, finishing within the walled part of the town.

Journey Information:

• The journey is going to be suitable for learner drivers as we do not go on a motorway. However, be aware of the A55's special road section if you use that way to go home as it has the same restrictions as a motorway. Also, we are very likely to take country lanes so if you are not comfortable with fast flowing country lanes, this might not be for you.
• The journey is likely to take 4/5 hours, depending on weather/traffic and other conditions. The easiest drop in/out points are Ruthin for the A494 and St. Asaph for the A55 J27 if you want.
• We will want to leave Chester Services at 10am. I'll be there at 9.30am.
• I intend for this drive to happen on the 5th of January, 2014. Of course, if proper winter weather arrives by then, that could change.

Yeah, should be a good drive and plenty of opportunity to do a spot of photography. I'll be going for the dummy run next weekend, so any sore spots in the route should be ironed out then. Hope to see you there!

Yeah. It was a date I had thought that might be relatively suitable given that people might be off on Christmas holiday but if it is going to be a problem for everyone, I can move it to the 5th of January.

Now if you said Sunday then that would be perfect.

Good to hear! To be honest, it was a toss up between Friday and Sunday. I wanted to see what would happen if it was on the Friday (I have Friday off) but if I kept it at that day, no-one would probably show because of work so Sunday it is.

Have done a dummy run and all seems good. It took me 3.5 hours to do only stopping in Ruthin briefly so 4 hours is a realistic run time. It is ~100 miles but that was with me getting mixed up in Wrexham.

With any luck, we'll arrive in Conwy as it is going dark or is dark. You'll understand why if you come on the trip!

Enjoyed "get knotted" very much but won't be able to make this trip sadly. This will be a great drive. Will keep a close eye on the events thread and see you again.

Hey Everyone!

The Chester to Conwy run is still on but I'll be checking the weather between Abergele and Conwy carefully tomorrow. As UK drivers will know, we've been having some interesting weather leading to flooding on roads. If it is bad, I may reroute the run a touch (read: probably change the entire second half of the run) but, just to re-empathise, the run is still on. It just may be different to how I envisaged.
