Hi Everyone
Took a phone call today from Chris Riley Smarts sales manager @ Smart Manchester. We had a really good chat about why Smart owners don't used the dealership for servicing. Whilst I said that there are some who are prepared to use the facility others its down to cost. He has sent me an email which I would like to share with you and also mention that on Sunday 11th May they are hosting a BBQ and also there are prizes on offer for Smart owners. Regretfully I cannot make it so there will be plenty of bangers on offer!
Cheers
Steve
Steve,
It was nice to chat to you earlier, you have some very valid points and gave me some important and much needed feedback as to why we lose service business to local service centres as well as our competitors, I am going to sit down with my general manager later and see if we can come up with a pricing strategy specifically aimed at your members initially.
If you could pop down sometime when your free I expect you would be surprised when you walk through the door, part of my remit when I took over smart was to inject some fun into the business as well as the boring bits such as improving our stock profile etc, the result is we now have a VERY colourful showroom, a new “urban lounge” area, more used car stock than ever before all of which is well presented and we have employed an extra salesman who previously worked with Ari for many years when smart was at Blackfriars.
We are selling more cars than ever and adding to the many happy smart owners already on the road.
My job now is to work on the service side of things and try to win back some of the customers we have lost due to servicing costs etc, as I said earlier the service dept in any business is usually a massive opportunity for new business but not so in smart, I aim to change that.
I have attached the email advert that will be going out for next Sundays BBQ, if you could pass it amongst your members that would be great, I think it would be a great opportunity to chat with your members and for them to bring along their cars etc, if you can give me an idea of numbers if anyone would like to attend that would be great, they can display their cars on the forecourt etc, we will be providing a BBQ free of charge and will have a small competition for the best displayed, 1st prize will be a free service, 2nd and 3rd prizes will be chosen from the accessories catalogue.
As well as all that we have purchased a smart car that we plan to fit a bike engine into for a bit of PR, I would be interested to get some feedback from your members about pro’s and con’s, I would also invite them to get involved with project if they wish to or if anyone has any idea’s they can bring to the table.
Kind Regards
Chris Riley
