No smart festival for 2014.

Smart took over a meet arranged by enthusiasts and dropped it because they couldn't make money or don't care. Every year it was later and later.
Maybe it's time to tell them that we are taking it back.

A Smart Festival this year would have been ideal as the new smarts are being revealed next month, they could have had the preproduction models there to see and drum up trade.

So all that talk last year of missing a year go really focus on this year to get it great again was a load of rubbish, I was really looking forward to this when I bought a smart but hey.

agree with evilution this year could have been great with the new model coming out! they could have really tempted existing owners to trade up or even buy another to add to their collection.

Because in my experience, smart owners are happy to put their names down for things like meetings but then rarely bother to show.
Everyone wants it on their doorstep, free, have loads to do and loads of stands to buy things from.
As soon as it's more than 50 miles away, people make excuses and won't turn up. Traders know this so they won't turn up.

Some time later in the year there'll be another BBQ evening at S2smarts in Watford, they are always a good day.

There is a meet planned at Gaydon, August 16th. No frills, no smart egg & spoon, no "free" food vouchers, just a central place to meet up with other smart owners. Details in the meeting section on here.

I must be mad then, I drove from Merseyside to London and back on the same day just to go to the last S2Smarts BBQ. I look forwards to going to the next one - perhaps redeem myself after my Car's disastrous run on the rolling road.

ive been to all types of major car shows through out the summer months, and none have been on the door step, most trips have been to santa pod and silverstone, and i live in west yorkshire lol, so being new to smarts is there no major shows?? just meets? lol

3 "shows" where we have a presence include Basingstoke Festival of Transport, Minis on the Rec & Kimbolton. Then there are well organised smart-specific "meets" at Ace Cafe, Gaydon & Beauleiu. And some of the smart specialists put on their own shows & events.

Regular organised meets happen in Lincs, Manchester, Southport, east Anglia, Kent, Wales, South West, Hamsphire and probably a whole host of other places.

I think smart UK were hoping to win the smart times contest last year and have the event combined with Brighton, but that obviously never materialised.

i will have to keep my eye out for when i purchase my own smart, just trying to collect as much info before i make the plunge so to speak haha
