          Re: Remap

I've recently sold my Brabus forfour and it never was remapped. In terms of resale value and classic status.

Very few Brabus forfours were sold, most you see forsale these days are not standard, badly serviced and in poor overall condition. Remapping a Brabus Forfour could reduce its value as people wanting to buy these cars now want straight, unmolested versions.

I could have had my Brabus forfour remapped, but really it don't need it. It's fast enough, the chassis copes with what it has.

When I had mine dyno'd it produced:
The spec is Brabus Forfour with SW Exclusive Forfour Race filter.

          182.7bhp vs factory 174bhp
          183.0ft.lbs vs factory 170ft.lbs

            Re: Remap

            Hi!

I would have to disagree and not only because I have been chasing a proper remap (i.e. power something similar to the never released SBR) for almost a year now.

A proper remap will not only increase the power and torque but will also decrease the fuel consumption.

The Brabus runs rich, richer than it needs to, all the time. A proper remap will adjust this and hopefully give better fuel economy. I don't know about other peoples Brabus but mine is quite thirsty.

One of the problems that I have found is that noone (that I have been able to find) can actually make a better map than what Brabus did. Compared to most chiptuners/remappers Brabus has a huge development budget. Once you start asking more detailed questions to the persons selling remaps they tend not to be able to answer. One can find quoted 200+ bhp remaps, but start looking at the details of the map and you will probably find (if you are lucky and find anything) wheel hp not much higher than the stock car.

A remap can be removed and the stock Brabus file reinstalled if/when the car is for sale.

After testing many remaps I am still using the stock Brabus file, so far I have simply not been able to find something that works better.

I would love to have help in my quest to find a proper remap though, if there are more of us asking for it then perhaps a tuner out there will try to spend the time to make an SBR.

            Cheers,
            Patrick

i will def agree with that, most owners dont realise how much this car needs serviced, if not a little more than what the book tells them

                Re: Remap

True, therefore it is very important to keep all documents and do all the servicing and extra oil changes.

I have all papers on my car since it was new, I have always serviced it at the Mercedes dealer (they rob me each time, just had my first B service done at almost 500 Euros!) and I do the extra oil and filter changes using better speced oil (same as I use in my racing cars) than recommended. Just over 40,000 kms now and in great condition.

As there are so few of us wanting that little extra power I believe that we think alike, we don't want to risk anything and are willing to spend big cash on our cars. It is likely that a person wanting a remap looks after their car more than the person just using it as transportation from a to b.

                Wouldn't someone agree?

It's strange Brabus forfour owners do not read their service book, or the Brabus sticker on the B pillar telling them they need to do oil and filter changes every 6,250miles and to ignore the dashboard display

Since when can a millenium do forfours?
Ok they could take the car on the owners behalf to Red . but Kess cant do them either. Only a few people can read and write to the Brabus ForFour, AD aint one of them !
