  • dropping rear windows

My partner has a problem with the rear manual windows of her cdi pulse.

Every now and then they drop about 1cm open, despite her double checking they are shut on a regular basis.

She believes it happens when it has been raining or snowing.....

If I attempt to 'pull' the windows down with my fingers there is a
tiny bit of play in and out but it doesn't feel like there is any play in the ratchet.

Is there any history of this with forfours, prehaps? (Might get lucky with a 'known' fix)

I'm a little bemused by this one

It is a "ghost" in the window winder sub mechanism behind the stabilising support unit. Take a crenulated split spanner to the side and wringle it to the left as you look from outside of the car for exactly 3.5 counter revolutions while holding the green split pin in place with blutak. That should do it but leave the car for a while following the procedure in case of degradation of the heldar spring!

Failing that take advice from someone who knows what they are talking about.

      :WOW:

Bloody impressive! As a simple fortwo driver I am very sorry to admit I don't have a clue.

On our old C5 there used to be a function on the remote to drop the windows ( in two steps ) when parking to let some air in ?

What position is the handle in when the window is closed? Some cars suffer from the handle moving down over time as its parked at almost its highest point, rather than its lowest point.

I'll check the handle position J500ANT.

I have also chatted to a mechanic who knows what he is talking about and he has provided me with a detailed diagram showing me EXACTLY where to shove the crenulated split spanner..
