Been playing with 3M Carbon film

been trying out the di-noc textured carbon effect film recently.....!!

its actually quite easy to use..... have a look on ebay at how tough and flexible and simple it is to use!

all you need is some film, sharp knife and a hot hairdryer or heat gun.

thoughts???

jj i have never had to take the grill off the forfour but some little scroat broke ours, any tips ?

for taking off or replacing??

the grill has a number of plastic clips like the fortwo.....but without the little screwdriver slots to help free it.

safest way is to remove the front

easiest way is to grab and wiggle really

if you need a new one, there are a couple or companies doing replica BRAB ones (all silver or all black) for not much £££ (£25)

I think it looks awesome and was considering doing the same on some interior pieces with the 3M Di-Noc. In the end I decided not to because of the extreme heat here in Spain. Just imagine the interior heat of the car when its 45 in the shade. The product has a limited performance life that is directly related to the amount of UV light and angle of light striking the PVC film. Obviously horizontal and "direct" sun drastically limit its life and won't even last 4 years. If it serves as any assistance, download the following PDF from 3m, its quite clear on the issue.

in 4 years i won't be driving this car

also, it comes off v v easy!

previously i had covered the front grill in a carbon patterned sticky back plastic and that was still on there after 3 years before i took it off to replace with the di-noc

oh - and sorry for the white panel red stripe........ the white panel was for the world cup.........



took me a while to wrap the panel and when i took the red cross off i quite liked it (and yeah - not everyone's taste i know) but then it looked like a bumped the front and replaced the panel so put the red stripe on just to finish it off - again.......not everyone's taste but hey
