  • Brabus - ESP & Sudden loss of power

    Hello all,

We have recently bought a Brabus forfour (1 month ago) and already i drive a brabus 451, however, driving along yesterday afternoon without any reasons the ESP fault displayed and sudden loss of power. The only saving grace it was on a country road! The EML light popped on!

Fortunately i had to stop and pick up the wife and turned the engine off thinking that when this has happened (flat battery) in the 451 it clears the light and away i went.

But oh no not yesterday..it started to pulse revs between 1500 - 2500 and literally no power. I managed to crawl up a hill and onto the flat and a v.short drive to the garage it was bought from. The only problem everytime and as is always the way some t**t wants to sit right on your a** with no acceleration. I was able to get it 3000 rpm and no more than 2nd gear.

We got it to the forecourt and explained the problem. However, the sales manager comes out and puts the key in and the ESP fault is not displayed! The engine is hunting for a constant rickover.

Engine off and a 3rd go and it refused to tickover.

The garage are sending for diagnosis....we await the verdict but any advice would be appreciated.

        thanks for the prompt replies.

Called into the garage this evening on the way home and they've said, that it had 20 stored codes all relating to the throttle body? They haven't gave an estimate of repair time but did say when we left 10 mins later the salesman went outside and the eml light was out and running fine! Glad that the fault was there when we arrived!

So, does this mean it was a long standing fault that was there when we bought it a month ago and has never been fixed???
