A quick and easy mod to replace the 2 flimsy earth leads on the BRABUS.
Just thought I would share this guide
(These should also fit the 1.3 and 1.5 petrol. Eventually they'lll be available for all the ForFours)
Why have I done it ???
Reduce electrical noise
Increase the efficiency of the spark plugs
Increase the efficiency of the engine
Increase the MPG
Give more power
.....probably !!
For more information and to buy a set, please take a look here.....!!
Ease of mod - very easy !!
What do you need ??
1) Earth Lead Upgrade kit from Evilution - about £23 I think !! (https://www.smartmods.co.uk/index.ph...ails&id=16 )
2) Socket set with 10mm and 13mm socket
3) About 10mins of time
What is in the upgrade kit..............??
1 x battery terminal cable (long cable)
1 x battery terminal clamp (brass coloured bit)
1 x engine earth cable (short cable)
1 x high quality contact grease (little packet)
First of all, we need to locate the 2 cables on the car that are to be replaced.
In the engine bay, the battery cable is easy to spot (red arrow) and the engine earth
is a bit harder but still easy (blue arrow) as it connects between the engine and the
bodywork and is only about 15cm long.

Remove the battery cable first using a 10mm socket. Remove from the battery first
and then from the car body.
Then remove the engine earth again using the 10mm socket. Its very tight down there
and not much room to move the wrench but once it starts coming lose, you can do the
rest with your fingers.
Lets compare the cables we have just removed to the new ones.....
Battery Lead
Engine Earth
Even if you don't believe what they can do, at least they look nicer
Anyway, lets fit them on the car - everything in the reverse order to the process used
to remove the old ones.
Engine earth first. Its a direct swap so its very easy. Don't forget to add some of the
high quality contact grease to both of the terminals...
Make sure both connections are tight before moving onto the battery cable.
Grease the small terminal and connect this to the car body first using the 10mm socket.
Then give the battery terminal a good coating of the contact grease....
Position the battery clip over the battery terminal and tighten up using the 13mm
socket, making sure that all the connections are nice and tight again.
Check the car starts..................course it did......never doubted it for a second.
Turn the radio on and press all your preset buttons and all the RDS info will come back.
Reset the brightness of the dash lights (as they default back to dimest setting) using
the button on the back of the right hand speedo pod.
Job done !!!!!! Told you it was easy !!
