Smart 4/4 1.1 engine non start

Hi
New member but experiace with Smart 4/2.

Bought a 1.1 4/4 recentlly and tonight its refused to start.

Turns over well and attempts to fire, but wont run.

I will try the battery disconect tes to see if its spiked or locked out.

Suspect either fuel related cant hear the pump, or ignition no spark?.

Since purchase fully reliable but has had some clues, very sluggish pick up then spurts off hesitant running and doesnt want to rev out when overtaking.
Where is the fuel filter, is it similar to 4/2 and has anybody written a start fault guide.

Hi again.

I got the engine started after a boost charge, so will go through earths cables and voltages and see what if any issues.

Would still be gratefull of any input felt to be of interest.

firstly, no fuel filter on any of the petrol forfours (i have a 1.1 forfour) as i found out from mercedes.
secondly, what gear and engine speed are you trying overtake? the torque comes in at about 4000 rpm so some cog shifting is required
and thirdly, get yourself to www.forfour.co.uk for forfour specific info, someone there will have experienced a similar fault

Apologies - missed this post.

If you have been having pick up probs and hesitant throttle then I would say that points towards the TVA (throttle Valve actuator) which does get clogged with everyday particles and can make the butterfly valve stick.

Full info on the site but there are 2 options...

Clean in situ with spray cleaner

Or

Remove and clean fully
