Pioneer App Radio fitted today

was looking to be easy until i got to wiring in things like the handbrake safety switch and the rear view camera switching cable and power









currently loving the functionality and sound

google maps
nav free worldwide maps
inrix traffic maps
internet radio
blue tooth phone
iphone music control
rear view camera
screen works just like an iphone with drag control for maps etc

pretty happy for £280 delivered (brand new price)

That would look very nice in Linda's for Four......

She has my old Pioneer tilt screen HU but the Ipod functionality is limited, you can't
drive it via a steering wheel remote and the SatNav and blue tooth add on modules costs a fortune....

That would be a better option - just wondering why you had the side panels off?

no steering wheel conversions work

had the side panels off to run the reverse camera wires

lots of people recommended other HU's but by the time you add blue tooth and satnav you are up above £500

so this at £280 was a bargain

(no CD played - but i don't use CDs..... and internet radio and iphone is enough)

....it only works with iphone4 and 4s but an android one is out soon.

You can, they have just released Appradio 2 that works with Android (for those people who expect less from their phones).

Wasn't on about a stering wheel with integrated controls = pioneer do a small unit which straps onto
your steering wheel and has an IR link to your HU.

Pioneer CD SR110, costs £25 on line and they are fantastic.

I will bet good money your HU is compatible and you will not regret it

we have them in stock at work, however i would mention they look cheap, the fit is hit and miss, not a lot of functions and 50% of people we supply them to remove them within 6 months as they find them a pain strapped to the steering wheel, not to mention that app radio is all about the touch (plus pioneer site does not say it supports the remote)

and jj, the handbrake cable you should just cut it short and wire it to the head units earth, thus making the unit think handbrake up all the time allowing the unit to have full functionality even when moving

is that on Halfords?? they are advertising them at £160 but funnily enough they have no stock in the UK and haven't since they listed it at that price.

BUT, i will take 4 off you at that price if you can get them

as for functionality - its not a standard stereo. yes, there is no CD player but i have my iphone with over 3000 songs.

i have been driving around this afternoon listening to internet radio and using google maps at the same time - and then when i parked up i watched some youtube clips....... i'm loving it.

i also love the reverse camera!! its awesome in the dark too.

the bluetooth hands free is a bit of a pain as you have to scan through the address book as there is no voice dial like my parrot kit.

but there is a recent calls list and i normally only call the missus or my dad!

sound quality is excellent and is requiring me to replace the rear speakers from OEM

the interface is ok and i've not struggled with it so far.

not sure what the issues are but i haven't experienced any yet.

i'll try wiring it up to the earth like you have said...

p.s. all the info on the handbrake wire states it has to do 2 applications of the brake (but i have yet to experience this) so will try wiring to the earth

just disconnect from handbrake and touch to a known earth, (seat bolt) it should give full functionality whilst driving
