2004 CDi Forfour 68bhp - a good buy. please?

I have a chance of an immaculate 2004 CDi Passion with 56k miles - but only the 68bhp model - for £2500.

It looks a lot of car for the money - but would the 68bhp model be a reasonable buy?

I will add that I am 70 - so not likely to drive it energetically!!

Any comments welcome, please.

Buy it and then take it s2smarts and get I mapped up to about +110bhp with LOADS of torque for not much money (the 90bhp with the red cdi version is the same engine with a different map from the factory - you can map it to this I you wanted)

It's lower than normal price but they are selling for £3-3.5k but then again it's an early example but also a high spec passion. Make sure you check it over well as you would with any car.

Check rear shocks, listen for wheel bearing noise, if it's auto check the gear change, check all 4 door handles operate (in and out)

Unless you are a boy racer! don't bother about a remap - IMHO. The cars are so light that the get away acceleration is ample even with two up.

I suspect at 70 years young you are just looking for a smiling enjoyable ride at very economical mpg. That is same as the engine in my 2002 for two and is does not worry me in the least that I do not have a remap.

But everyone has their own opinion. I would certainly buy it and ENJOY!!!!!!!!!

different engine to the fortwo....

only mentioned the remap as the OP said he was worried it was only the 68bhp model.

CrazyG on www.forfour.co.uk has the 68bhp cdi mapped way beyond the 90bhp model by s2smarts (current cost of a fully customised rolling road map is only £200) and he gets better fuel economy now

i would go for the remap just to have that nice bit of uber power there just when you need it.

(as i said, engine on the 68bhp is the same as the 90bhp version - just a factory map - so no impact on engine life)

Thanks very much guyz n gals - I must admit I'm quite keen - but have never even been in one before.
I think I MAY be suffering a mid-life crisis - I NEED another car like I need a hole in the head, as already have an 09 MHD and an 09 CDI Fortwo -
so beware - older and dafter could be creeping up on yo, like me!!

I would bet you get better mpg out of the forfour than the 2 x fortwo

With the lounge concept seats, you really have a versatile car

I think they are a timing chain not cam belt could be mistaken though?
