Which gear knob do you like the best?

Hi everyone,

Currently smartening up my forfour. One of the items I want to change is the standard gear knob. It just looks and feels cheap and nasty. I don't want a boy racer car, but a bit of the chrome look will go well with the mods I'm making.

I should note at this point, I am painting the gear stick surround, so I will possibly need a new gear indication transfer unless I choose one of the knobs shown. Whittled it down to three, opinions/votes please?

Personally I'm torn between knob 1 and knob 3. With knob 3, I wouldn't need an indication transfer. 1 and 3 are illuminated, 2 isnt.

Avoid any aluminium ones - unless you are fond of handling something that will remain ice cold ten miles into any journey done in winter. They are the most ridiculous car addition ever and proof of the public's ability to swallow sh!t whole without even chewing.

How much did yours cost? Prices I've seen have been astronomical!

Very good point about it being cold. It's just that I'm making other parts of the interior have a chrome and leather effect, so wanted something complimentary on the gearstick. Would you prefer a black leather one then?

im not going to sugar coat it and say it was cheap. it cost me £90 for the oval brabus gear knob.
iv never liked the after market ones for sale. id rather have the standard look

That's cheaper than prices I've seen, when looking, they were £120+

I have to disagree there, they feel wonderful and the extra weight is reassuring. My other car has a chrome bit on the knob which can get cold in winter, a fellow club member has knitted a batch of knob warmers to solve the freezing finger problem. Sad but true!

momo gotham is a nice looking one...



what you have to remember is that the forfour gear nobs have a long neck and the gator is short so if you have an after market one then you will have some of the skinny gear shaft showing.

but don't worry about it being cold................

isn't a knitted warmer a bit dangerous?? would it not slip around on the nob while trying to change gear?? haha!
