MAF and TVA clean today BRABUS forfour

had a bit of lumpy idle recently so decided to give the Air Flow sensor a clean and then have a quick clean out of the Throttle Valve.

MAF was easy as it just unscrews (disconnect first and not the flow arrow)





gave it a spray clean with some halfords electrical contact cleaner (£4) then let dry for an hour (assisted with a cool hair dryer in this cold weather)and refitted

car instantly ran better and throttle response was better.

While i was under the bonnet, pulled off the scuttle panel, some of the air intake piping and had a look at the throttle valve









it wasn't very dirty but some carb cleaner on a cloth still pulled off some grime....... i didn't open the throttle valve and clean beyond due to time but when the weather is warmer i will as its a v simple job.
