Look out for???

Is there anything I need to look out for/mod with the forfour?
ie stones hitting a condenser unit like on the 451 4-2.. Or pipes splitting that type of thing?

Haha - it's better for your eyes

Apart from the normal things you should look for on a car keep an eye out for gear knob not centralising (fixable), lack of throttle response (throttle valves stick but easy fix) but that's about it really. Possibly noisy wheel bearings but not overly common.

The forfours are hugely more reliable than the fortwo

It's a 2 (maybe 3) fold thing....

1. Mechanical gear selector on top of the gearbox (metal on metal)

2. Gear selector cables running from gear stick to gear selector (cables in sheaths become stiff)

3. Less common but mechanical actuation of the cables by the levers under the gear lever wear and become stuff

Its all very well apologising, but it's been noted that a 'large proportion of your posts are the same.
Surely sharing the knowledge is better than directing people away to elsewhere (which is actually in the rules 6.3).

There would be a larger number of forfour owners on here though if they had not been abused and ridiculed so much

I agree the rules are there but forfour is a technical repository (like Evilution is) and not so much a discussion/community as maniacs and smartz and mania.

If forfour owners aren't alienated, they would all be here taking part in the community discussions.

I see linking to the site similar to someone saying look on Evilution or contact fudge for advice.

But I accept the rules wholeheartedly

The passion here is for the rear engined smarts so the above makes sense from the perspective that few fortwo/roadster owners here really give a monkey's about forfours and have at a guess no interest in seeing posts on them or have the knowledge of them to be of help. Far better to direct them to a site that does.
