    Re: Which engine

Thanks for all of your inputs. Its now just a waiting game for something to come up locally. (Ive made the mistake of buying from afar before) Im leaning toward a 1.5 passion petrol but will try a diesel before taking the plunge. (I had promised myself no more noisey diesels after years of them before it became 10p a litre more than 'refined' petrol) It will deff be a manual having made the semi auto mistake in the past. Also I think my exceptional mpg in my Yaris is due to the fact that in hilly devon I spend 1/3 of my time 'illegally' coasting. 47.6mpg in a 1.5 Tsport not bad. I did find my 1.3 great if I wanted to drive like a boy racer but hopeless for gentle motoring. Thanks again Colin

      Re: Which engine

So here's another question. My garage door is 1.9m wide. I cant find the width of the forfour with 'mirrors folded'. So does anyone who actually puts theirs in the garage have a doorway 1.9 (or smaller) and manage to get it in without too much trouble. There are a couple of low mileage ones available locally but neither dealers will let me take them the 10miles to home on a road test so I'm a bit stuffed. I have to keep my car in the garage as part of our freehold agreement. Daft I know, but years ago roadtests used to have a plan with all dimensions clearly marked, I cant find that sort of info anywhere. Even Smart cant tell me the width, only that it is 1684 not inc mirrors. Helpful. Thanks everyone.

        Re: Which engine

according to the manual, the width of the car is 1684mm

it doesn't state whether this is body or inc mirrors.

          Re: Which engine

Thanks probchild. According to smart that figure is not incl mirrors but they cant (a) tell me if the mirrors fold, easy enough to check or (b) the width incl folded mirrors. I just hope I can find one nearby to test drive home and try it. Cheers Colin

            Re: Which engine

Measure across the mirrors passing a tape measure from one mirror to the other through open windows through the interior of the car?

                    Re: Which engine

Thanks everyone. So it will go in (just). Off to try a 'local' 95 diesel auto after lunch. No great hopes as its not really what I want (auto) but the £30 tax is appealing so will see if my skills have improved any over the years (or if im more tolerant to jerky gear changes). Will keep you informed. Cheers Colin

You can climb! I thought I was sparing you crawling underneath.....

Still, Colin has the number he needed (I'm sure he appreciates your efforts). Another forfour owner soon at a guess.

                            Re: Which engine

Thanks again guys. looked at but unable to try the 95 auto as it was at the back of a car lot looking rather sad in silver and white with several dents in the metalwork. Also 60k (ok) but £3,495 which was over the top. Asked if I could try it and they said come back after the weekend. (Maybe) It didnt have any extras so thought better of it. But still mite give it a go if they are willing next week. Theres also a 1.5 manual 45k for £3995 nearby but in the paintshop with a huge bash in the back door shut. Mite have a look if its repaired properly. Cheers Colin

car park dents of nice big ones??

i had a wheelie bin dent on my a pillar trid that i pulled out with the cheapo glue gun based pullers off ebay.

silver/white is my fave combo but needs to be a passion really.

                              glass roof and alloys min.

worth taking it out though......**** garage though

Not yet had test drive. The white diesel auto is still parked at the back of the car lot. (perhaps it wont start) and the 1.5 manual appears to still be in the body shop (silver and grey) like my first one but other way round, both are basic passions the diesel has upgraded audio?. I was hoping for something more flamboyant maybe grey and orange with lecci sunroof and mirrors, but whatever I get I will want something different after a while. Like they would say on strictly keep on looking. Cheers Colin
