    Evening all,

Just come out the Gym and both the headlights wont work on my Fourfour CDi .

    Thanks

    Headlights Fuse?

8&9 high beam left and right?

Unusual not to have one that just says 'headlights' or 'sidelights' & 'main beam'

Flashers to me would indicate when you pull the indicator stalk towards you and flash.....but god knows how smart did it!

The relays have high and low beam.....

Do sidelights and full beam work?

Oh and silly question, but do you have the ignition on (2 clicks) or engine running as they wont come on otherwise

        Re: Headlights Fuse?

        Thanks for the replys,

The main beam works fine and the parking lights and the fog lights its just the standard headlights that dont work :-(.

Going to switch a few fuses round this morning.

Ok so i have checked the bulbs ...... Fine,

          Switched the fuses round.........Fine.

Headlights are still not working so im guessing this must be the relay then which is a right nightmare to get to?

Not really, once you get to it swap it over with another one to test. If all is well and you need in quick try merc or a local breakers yard, I got a relay from a jag x-typr

              Re: Headlights Fuse?

hi - its not uncommon for the headlights on cars to both go at the same time.

take it you have tried new bulbs?

as has been said, each side has its own fuse so not likely to be that.

              http://www.forfour.co.uk/forum/index...33862#msg33862

could be the relay but not heard of it failing before but there is always a first time.....

let us know how you get on

                  Re: Headlights Fuse?

what happens when you press "unlock" or "lock" twice on the remote??

if they then work then it could be the switch in the stalk.

just trying to think what other single points of failure could be

                    Hi ,

Yeah i have tried that and they still dont come on - so the switch can be ruled out..... :-(.

Is it possible it could be an earth? do you think.

                    Thanks

                      possibly..........

not sure if there is a single earth though.

you have defo checked with a new bulb? (pita to get to those bulbs i know)

                        Re: Headlights Fuse?

Do your sidelights and main beam work? If they work and its just the dipped headlights then it shouldnt be the fuse as it only shows high beam and low beam, so im assuming headlights must share a fuse with either if those.....

I have tried the fuse and this hasnt worked either :-(

I had both bulbs go on my old mazda, they looked fine too. It is very unlikely for 2 bulbs to go at the same time, but not unheard of

Most likely to fail is the bulbs I'm affraid.

Replace 1 and see if that makes a difference.

Easier than going hunting under the car for earth faults.
