Difference between Pure, Pulse, Passion?

As the title says,

I have found out breifly that Passion is the highest spec; can you get Passions with paddle shift.
Also between the 3 04-06 are they all the sam engine?

Yes, you can get paddleshift on a passion, it's just not standard (it is on the pulse only)

between 04 and 06, yes they'll all be the same 698cc engine, but with differing engine power outputs 'programmed in'.

pure - the base model
pulse - the supposed sporty version with fog lights, paddleshift and wide wheels as standard.
passion - the 'luxury' version with aircon as standard, but not paddleshift, wide wheels or foglights.

Interior colour choice is different too between them all.

Pure came with hard roof only but there was a few LTD ones with glass . Hard tops could be orderd for Pulse Passion from new but few were but can be retro fitted .Right hand drive cars with old style headlights were for Jap market and not origanaly ment to come over to UK but they could not sell enough to Japan because of the K car and extra Tax etc . Japan got right hand drive cars a year befor us so if you see one with kidney shaped lights thats were it was ment to go . Very early cars ie X,T that are right hand drive AVOID ..dodgy converts done over here that went badly wrong .
Pure has wiring in place for fogs hidden behind grill and also all Smarts have Outside temp that can be actovated with a code .
Try to get a car with POD's . One is the clock one is the Rev counter . They keep't changing when a modle was and was not fitted with them but are so SMART and are a MUST .

Anything missing on any of the specs can be added with varying amounts of complexity, cost and time. In truly basic terms...

Pure = Base
Pulse = Sporty
Passion = Luxury
Brabus = the true sports model

Then there are many, many variants based on any of these trim levels with unique colours, trims and additions.

how about numberof gears? I think the Passion has 6 the others 5?
If so, is the Passion more ecanomical on long runs and quieter, or have the 5 speeds just got a longer final ratio.

WRONG ..it changed from year to year sir .The Pure endid up haveing them fitted in the end but the Pulse lost them for a while...in fact i think the Passion lost pods for a while ?

All have 6 gears and the Pure was the best on MPG . Passion worst on MPG as it was the heavest car . Did have waights for all 3 from when we did the book . Brabus waste of money as you could build your own spec one for less with more umpf

Yes , and very nice sporty little number and worth buying if you find a good one . I missed out on one even though i'd lost my licence at the time lol

Paddles can be retro fitted, requires a reprogram not sure of cost.

You're confusing it the new smart ((2007 onwards) all of them have 5 gears.
All the 698cc and 599cc smarts have six gears. including the roadies.
