  • Rear windscreen washer not working...

My rear windscreen washer is not working. It has worked OK for 3 years.

The front washer is working fine, and I can hear the motor working when I try to operate the rear washer. Plus there is no water leaking into the car (so don't think it's the issue with the disconnected tube). Plus there is no water under the car.

There is water in the bottle, and I have cleaned the squirter jet.

Any idea what the problem might be?

Does the rear washer use the same motor as the front washer?

Front and rear use the same water bottle correct? (There is only one)

I don't really want to have to remove the front panel...

    Thanks in advance...

Rear washer supply is from front bottle. To check rear tube you need to unbolt the spoiler from tailgate - easily done but refitting is a bit fiddly to ensure it is aligned properly. Can't imagine how, but wonder if the rear tube has somehow become kinked and that is simply blocking supply to jet. I would start by removing spoiler and checking tube.

There is a known fault with the rear washer in that it can become detatched from the little plastic tube that takes the water through the rear screen. Its easy to fix do as above with the rear housing abd pop it back on and use a cable tie to stop it happening again. Also the plastic tube sometimes breaks off this will manifest its self by washing the INSIDE of the window. This happened to me and a few others and you will need a new back screen as it comes as a single unit, hope youve still got warrenty! When it happened to me it cost me £13,000 cos rather than fixing it i just bought a Brab Cab!!!If its just come off the placcybit you will get water coming out between the screen and high level brake light housing.Hope this helps.

If you have to replace the pump be careful as there are two different types, the later one will not fit the earlier one and vice versa. Cost about £17, very akward it fit as space is very tight.
