  • petrol cap won't open!

Please can someone help me. Went to fill up with petrol other day and cannot get petrol cap to open, the door flap not the actual petrol screw cap. I know it is linked to central locking, that is working fine. My petrol tank is almost empty and smart center is 30 miles away. I can try mercedes dealer up the road but know they will tell me to go to the smart center, does anyone have any ideas? I am thinking of calling out the AA to tow me to Southampton? Please can someone reply with any ideas? Many thanks Smartmog.

Break it open and get it fixed under waranty is what smart will tell you to do :eek

But you could remove the rear light cluster and free it from there

Thanks for advice, we took it to mercedes dealer and they broke it open and will have to get it fixed under warranty as you both advised! Thank you for both replying. Had to drive hubbies volvo estate for work nightmare to park as used to parking smartmog! Ha!

Even when my pulse doors are unlocked, I still have to hit the unlock button on the key again to get the fuel cap unlocked, strange?

Blackbird - this does happen depending how the doors are unlocked. If you use the central locking button on the dash this of course locks everything. Unlike other cars I've owned opening one of the passenger doors does not unlock all the other locks, it merely unlocks the door being opened. Therefore the button needs to be pressed to cancel the central locking and unlock the filler cap. BTW you don't have to break the filler cap to remove it, you can undo all the torx screws instead and lift the cap off!!
