Very interesting comment. I use it virtually all the time (and have done so for the past 10 years!) - except when I get some petrol head thinking he can see me off the starting line - dream on baby, oh and at busy roundabouts.

I only wanted softouch as the misses drives very rarely and if she 'doesn't have to do the gears' she may drive a smart Handy for the odd occasion when she can drive back from pub (she doesn't drink)
Other aesthetic difference is Pulse has black mirrors and Passion silver no matter what colour tridion! Unless they have been changed or painted.

Passions do seem to command a slightly higher price but only about 5%-10%. Also insurance is about 2% more on passion!

Used I can't imagine there would be any price difference between the two. One wasn't really better than the other, they were just different. One thing I haven't spotted is that the Pulse didn't come with softouch as standard (not on the early ones anyway) I certainly don't recommend the auto option for every day but it's nice to have for very slow traffic.

    i did - thanks

my post was in response to ManM

DD - on my 03 pulse with silver trid, the order form/receipt showed nothing for the trid but it did show leather at zero cost. if the fortwo range is anything like the forfour range, the spec varies greatly on cars that should be the same

Thanks very much 137699. Your post was very useful. I am trying to find out if the Passions are actually worth more than Pulses. So knowing what equipment they both had as standard is very useful.
Thanks to all who have replied.

Silver tridion was a chargable option on the pulse.
Equally you could have your passion with a black tridion as a non-charge option.

AFAIK most (if not all) of the stuff on the Passion was available on the Pulse, but as a minimum you should get on the Passion:

    - Silver Tridion (optional on pulse, black was standard)
    - CD player (optional on earlier pulse, standard fit later on)
    - Sound pack - better speakers (optional on pulse)
    - Air Con (optional on pulse)
    - Different (some may say nicer) upholstery
    - Different (some would say worse) alloys
    - Different dials (black face on passion, white face on pulse)
    - Full auto (soft-touch)

I thought they both came with under seat drawer, electric windows, dash "pods", glass roof, leather steering wheel/gearknob, front foglamps, tinted glass etc.

Then you had the optional extras which some may have such as:
    - PAS
    - Flappy paddles
    - Electric Sunroof
    - Electric Mirrors
    - Cruise control
    - cup-holders / cd-trays etc.

So basically passions are *more likely* to have more goodies, but it does depend on year and what options were spec'd when it was originally ordered new, or what's been retro fitted.

Re: What is the difference between Pulse and Passion?

ManM: In some cases the badge does seem to be the difference! I know what 'extras' I want on a Smart but I am just trying to find out if it's worth paying extra for a Passion model over a Pulse.
On the face of it it doesn't matter which one you buy as there is only a difference in what wheels were standard, the load cover, and what colour the door mirrors are and that's all.
I was hoping someone would say get a Pulse as it has xyx or a Passion as they have wxyz sort of thing. I know that when new there were lots of options so either model may have been ordered with lots of goodies. Sometimes little things are included in 'top end' models that are just 'nice to have' like 'follow me home lights', or better door pockets, or a lockable under seat draw etc....

Anyway nice to know that there is not a lot between them.
    Thanks.

Our 2002 pulse had black tridion, glass roof, cassette player, standard speakers, no aircon, soft-tip (manual only).
Our 2003 passion has silver tridion, glass roof with electric sunroof, CD player, sound pack, aircon, soft-touch (manual & auto).

Cheers. Our list is very similar but a convertible, although a panoramic roof is a very close second. Only thing I would add is the 0.7 engine as it would appear to be slightly better. Although I have rebuilt and modified engines before so if the dreaded stuck piston ring strikes I can deal with that myself.
