  • Airbag warning light

Hi, I have a 2003 Smart cabriolet and noticed that the Airbag warning light has come on. The computer in the garage came up with the code B1031 but it did not show up on their official Smart car list. Any ideas? Thanks!

    Re: Airbag warning light

Do you have side airbags in the seats? If so its likely a dirty connection under one of the seats. You will need to clean up the connectors then get the car to a dealer or specialist to get the light reset

        Hi
        Happened to me to. I've got a 450 700cc Cabrio (2003-2005).
It happened after one of the kids tried to be funny and got into the "back" via the passenger seat.

Had to have it re-set by the dealer. It is an electrical connection under the passenger seat that doesn't make good contact, and when disturbed, makes the warning light come on.

        Hope it helps.

Thanks very much, everybody! I'm off to the garage tomorrow to have it (hopefully) sorted. @steve_1360: I googled your comment and it came up with:
"DTC B1031: Driver Air Bag Initiator Circuit Resistance High" ... Is that the same?

Car sorted! They found a problem with the cable under the driver's seat. Thanks again! :-)
