Check over on Smart Car of America forum. Member "Stretchmobile" has 17" wheels all around on his 450. I have 17" wheels all around on my 451 Brabus coupe.

Some people have used Kahn wheels, I think they are 17x6.5?

You can do 17 x 8 on the rear with early widestar arches and wider still with late ones.

Be aware thate you may end up feeling like you are driving around inside a cement mixer if the roads are not good where you are.

        Cheers!

Friend of mine has fitted a 17" brabus roadster wheels on his brbaus 450 smart. He has lowered the car so he had to use lower profile tires. Looks awesome

They are very heavy , in comparison to 15 inch wheels.lol

The 17's Nick mentioned do look great I would think any 17 inch rim will be heavier than the 15 inch version

I'm thinking of getting some late 451 15" steelies banded anybody had any dealings or maybe just get a set of roadsters steelies my 450 has been lowerd 30mm all round so I'm thinking 17" maybe out the question?

If my friend lowered his to 40mm and got a 17" wheels then they are not out the question yet. One of my cars 450 smart got a 17" khan wheels. No rubbing or touching. Okay its not lowered... but still. Everything is possible with these 17" wheels on 450's BUT if you get a 451 steelies (which do look better than 450 ones and roadster ones) then banded it will look stunning on the car!!! Your call

Cheers was supposed to be a cheap run around but the smart bug has definitely bit lol reckon I'm edging towards the banded option 6.5 fronts 7.5 rears 👍

I doubt 7.5 inch wide rears will work with standard arches.

                    Cheers!

That's what I'm running - with 195/50s alround. There's not much space left in the arches.
They work well though - which is what counts for me. I can't see them when I'm driving (neither can anyone else!) but I can appreciate the grip and not be petrified of every pothole and lump in the road. And if one does get bent - £35 buys a brand new replacement.

Cheers did think about this but didn't think they would fill the arches was going to 175 front 195 rears that's why thought about banding but it's not cheap so want to make sure I'm getting it rite done some calculations reckon banded 6j with 195 front 7j 205 rear ?Thought tyre sizes had to be different front & back or am i just misinformed?

I've got 195/45/16's on 7.5J rims all round with no problems. Only thing i've had to do was fit the little plastic arch extenders on the back.
