  • Need some advice

I have an very early smart fourtwo pulse

I had my key stolen and now have to buy replacements to get the car going again, in addition to the key & ignition barrel, and the ecu is there anything else that I will need to get too, or is that the lot, some people say that a new Central locking unit will be needed too as it is coded to the key/ECU units, and some other seem to think that new clocks also.........
please help if you can. TIA

Looking at it the door and the ignition switch barrel are cut to match the key that was stolen. The electronics of the car are linked to the key fob electronics. I think all you have to do is get a door and ignition barrel which have a different key cut on them, that way if the thief comes back, they can't open the door with the key or turn the ignition switch on. Ah! you think what if they press the button on the key fob? Well, You get the new key (preferably two) linked to your cars ECU using a STAR machine - this will mean it only links to the one or two keys you sync at the time. Unless you are unlucky and the thief is standing right next to your car when the keys are synchronised, his / her key will not be included in the list of keys that can turn the immobiliser off.

How early is your "early car" out of interest. I had an early 1999 & passion in which I did over 300,000 miles.
