    Re: 451 cdi exhaust system

    I want to hear/see this when its done. I know its possible to make a diesel sound sexy, the Range Rover TDV8 is ear porn! Good luck.

      Hopefully there will be nothing to see, I intend to keep it like the original, out of sight.

      I'm hoping that it will be slightly throaty, so that it drowns the sound of the diesel rattle, but not so noisy that it attracts the wrong sort of attention! Watching BilGladstone's video clip of his the sound is about right, but he has a cat in his system and I won't have - and cats do act as silencers to a degree... It is going to be a 'suck it and see' design, but once I have the front pipe sorted, the silencing can be changed as necessary to get the sound I want.

      When I finally get it done, I'll stick a video on my website....

        Any idea when you'll get the second video up? It will be interesting to compare the sound of the 'raw' system to as it is now, all wrapped up.... :silvertri
        Here you go. Let me know what you think!

          Bil,

          That sounds really good - not too noisy, but it has a nice rasp to it when you boot it - full marks!!

              personally id leave the DPF on but is your smart and i shall put my point forward.
              you'll have to get it remapped to let the ECU know that it doesnt have a DPF, other wise it will try and regen a filter that it doesnt have and the EML will come on, or go in to 'restricted performance'. i dont think a standard CDI map will work without a DPF so my money is on a custom map, which will take you over your £100 budget

                  Thanks for that, I was concerned there for a moment!

                  The idea of removing the cat and DPF is to remove the restrictions, get a really free-flowing system to let the turbo spool up quicker. Leaving either in the system is somewhat counter productive!

                    I've not heard from 54 owners yet - if there is any noticable re-gen sequence on them ?
                    It's only setting fire to it anyway

                    45=EURO4 compliant 54=EURO5 compliant
