Pulse or Passion.... Power steering or not

I am sure that this has been asked before but I am diliberating. Pulse or Passion AND I am happy with non power steering but the wife finds it hard to park without power steering. Is it something that she may get used too ? I actually like driving it without, does it make a big difference in the general drive and feel ?
I might pop along to the meet in wallington on Tuesday week is there normally a good turn out ?

Are you looking at a new model or one of the older cars???

Power steering is an option (I think...may be standard on the new passion??)......but I dont think is worth having it as the steering is so light anyway. Perhaps you should get the wife to try one first without & not tell her, see how she gets on with it?

It was a VERY rare option on any of the older models....and again not really worth having unless she really has no arm muscles at all!!!!

I've never tried a fortwo with power steering, but my other half has a bad back and was very concerned about buying non-PAS car, but she's had 2 non-PAS fortwo's now and doesn't find it a problem at all.

I've heard bad things about the "feel" of the PAS-equipped 450's.

I've got a Pulse 71 non-MHD without power steering. Even with the bigger front tyres, it's heavy while parking, but fine.

I've a Pulse MHD and a Pulse CDi - both without power steering - and have also never driven one WITH it, so I would think you'd be fine without.

Also bear in mind your scope of a suitable vehicle will be drastically narrower if you are looking for one specifically with power steering.

Regarding the Passion / Pulse question - once I'd discovered that, normally, only the Pulse model came with flappy paddles on the steering wheel, I vowed that model was my goal - and I stopped looking for Passion's - a decision I certainly don't regret, as the paddles really make a difference to the driving experience - in my view.

i would agree with YAMAHA1 the puse is best as it is the drivers car. and it comes with the wider wheels as std, and flappy paddles. pas is only an opption if i am right. happy hunting

power steering is something that's not necessary in these cars...my old 451 didn't have it...and my brabus 451 does, yes it makes a difference, but it feels like there is less feedback to the wheel with the pas.

must admit though, it does make parking in really tight spaces much easier!

Unless there's a medical reason for needing to have exceptionally light steering, no-one needs pas to park a smart. We regularly have to reverse park into tight spaces on Bex street and neither of us struggle in either the 450 or 451. I've driven the 451 with pas and can honestly say it was very unpleasant, felt like you were driving on an ice rink.

There's bound to be plenty of passions out there with paddles, the one we have have that's just about to go back does as does the new one we're having but with wider wheels as well.

How old is your old Passion ? Milage etc petrol or diesel ?

My Brabus has relatively large front tyres, and my dear old wife(don't let her know I used the word 'old'), has no problem at all turning the steering - no PAS on my Brab.
