MHD Belt question

Official and recommended are 2 totally different things. I'd recommend changing it every service just for the sake of it.

I've just joined the forum, I have the 71 BHP 451 MHD. Had an issue with the belt and Merc changed it FOC, then they recalled it for some sort of upgrade, didn't really find out what that was re the belt: anyone know?

Anyway, I can't fault the motor, I've used it for commuting and runs out over 100 miles, I've not thrashed it but have run it through the box near to the red line many times and also at speeds near its limit, I leave the MHD on all the time so the car gets well used, but then its always serviced by Merc and well looked after. People slag the 71 BHP MHD off but individual needs and wants have proven its a desirable car as there are thousands out there, and most still running without issue.

Yep, I could have bought the 84 BHP or the brabus but why do I need to buy something I've no real need for. Looking at the range, all that the 84 and brabus do is get you to the limited speed of 90 MPH quicker.
