Smart Fortwo CDI 2010 has a serious problem. In the morning when I try to start it so it starts but after 3-5 seconds it goes off! And when I repead this 3 or 4 or 9 times it works.
After getting it to go it starts without problems all the day. Untill the next morning! Now it has been four weeks at the service but no one can find a reason for this behavior.

I'd check
HP fuel pressure sensor (or connections)
and/or crank sensor.
also change fuel filter
also you could check LP pressure is sufficient

Can you use the diagnostic socket to check for fault codes?

Thats a good beginning.

Now all the assistant straps are off. Meaning that water pump, charger and air conditioning are off.
And now it starts normally and the motor keeps on going! We shall study more about it.

Does the alternator spin freely?

I had to buy a new motor. Now It works.
